What Translate does
Translate into one target language or automatically between two chosen languages. Text in a third language uses your primary language. Apple on-device translation uses the resources available for the source and target; Microsoft Translator can handle unsupported pairs when Online Actions is enabled.
Long selections are translated without splitting Unicode characters or losing paragraph separators. Copy and Replace use only the translated text.
Choose ChatGPT or another configured AI provider for translation, including Bulgarian with a compatible provider.
Set up translation and speech voices.
How to use it
- Select text written in another language.
- Choose Translate from the widget.
- Review the translated text, copy it, or replace the selection where supported.

Settings
Open the action's settings from:
ActionClip Settings → Actions → Translate → gearTranslation provider
Use Automatic for Apple and Microsoft translation, or choose a configured AI provider.
Translation direction
Choose one target or a two-language pair. Search languages by name or code.
Offline language packs
Check and install resources for each source → target direction. Both directions are checked in pair mode.
Translation result
These independent options default off for new settings.
Speech voices
Search and preview voices shared with Speak. Download Voices opens macOS settings; some Siri voices are not exposed to apps.
Display
Choose how this action appears in the floating widget. This changes only its presentation, not what it does.
Changes are saved automatically.
You can also replace this action's icon from ActionClip → Actions. See change an action icon.
When ActionClip suggests it
Translate is promoted for strong non-Latin text or text that macOS recognizes as non-English. It also remains available when you pin or enable it.
Enabled actions remain available in your Actions list even when Smart Suggestions do not promote them for the current selection.
Requirements and privacy
- Apple on-device translation requires the relevant macOS language pack.
- Microsoft Translator requires Online Actions.
